1.) Bremen/ Huntsville, Ala.(USA) Rheinmetall Defence Electronics GmbH and Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc. and have formed a groundbreaking alliance to market a family of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to the U.S. government. Teledyne Brown will adapt Rheinmetall’s proven UAV system to provide the U.S. with reliable, superior and flexible UAV systems designed for real-time reconnaissance and surveillance as well as armed reconnaissance. Under the lead of Teledyne Brown, Prospector is the premier system being developed for the American market on the basis of the German UAV system KZO. It is a multipurpose reconnaissance system that requires no runway for launch, allows for changeable payloads in the field and provides high precision navigation and targeting.
2.) The Budget Committee of the German Bundestag has just given the go-ahead for the most important project of the German land systems industry: the new Puma infantry fighting vehicle. The Puma infantry fighting vehicle is a key project for the German defence industry, a clear expression of its technological superiority in this important domain. The vehicle offers a degree of crew protection and system survivability unrivalled anywhere in the world. No vehicle in its class comes close to such excellent protection of the crew against mines and rocket propelled grenades, the most serious threats in crisis regions. Due to its newly developed 800 kW engine, novel turret design and use of programmable ammunition, the Puma sets an entirely new global standard in the world of armoured vehicle design.
