IDET, International Fair of Defence and Security Technology, is one of the biggest shows of defence technology in Central and Eastern Europe. Exhibitors from ca. 30 countries present their products to international military delegations and professionals from all over the world. In 2005 IDET was the largest trade show in this field in Europe and since 1997 it has been number one in Europe in odd years. Part of each run is a varied accompanying programme in which defence technology experts discuss topical issues. Its focal point is the traditional international conference CATE. The International Defence and Security Technologies Fair IDET is the most important pro-export event for the Czech defence industry. Exhibitors from around thirty countries present their products and services here to army delegations and trade professionals from all over the world. The event is a gateway to new markets and a platform for new co-operation and partnership. IDET is a truly international event and a meeting place for the defence and security industry of Central and Easter Europe, i.e. new NATO member states, with a principal focus on the Czech and Slovak armies.

The IDET trade fair is held under the auspices of the President of the Czech Republic, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, the Minister of Defence, the Committee for Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security of the Senate of the Czech Parliament, the Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Army, the Police President, the General Directorate of the Fine Rescue Servce, the Defence and Security Industry Association of the Czech Republic, etc. The planned participation of representatives of the political elite and experts responsible for acquisitions from the Czech Republic and abroad provides companies with ample opportunity for presenting their product portfolio and for holding taks with representatives of mmistnes. the armed forces, police forces and fire brigades; The presence of the Ministry of Defence and the Czech Army, not to mention foreign army and ministerial delegations, is also of great importance to exhibitors
A demonstration area with the working title IDET Arena is to be an interesting feature at Bmo Exhibition Centre once again after a gap of four years. The Czech Army, the Czech Police and the Fire Rescue Servce, not to mention individual exhibitors, will all have the chance of mounting demonstrations of various units and pieces of equipment for visitors. Our GOLD IDET competition and awards for the best products are also to return after a long absence. The supporting programme, organized in co-operation with the AFCEA, is to be comprised of NATO and EU conferences and seminars featuring the participation of leading specialists from ail over the world. Talks are also planned at the ministerial level within the V4 both at IDET and at the PYROS/ISET fairs. The University of Defence is also organizing the traditional CATE conference with significant international participation. |
