The S-300PMU-2 Favorit NATO designation SA-20B gargoyle B , introduced in 1997, is an upgrade to the S-300PMU-1 with range extended once again to 195 km with the introduction of the 48N6E2 missile. The S-300PM2/PMU2 unit is composed bu 5P85SE and 5P85TE launcher units, illumination and guidance radar 30N6E2, acquisition radar 96L6, and command post 54K6E2.

Systems and vehicles S-300PMU 1 SA-20A Gargoyle surface-to-air missile system
The next big evolutionary step in the S-300P air defense missile system was the introduction of a new export variant the S-300PMU1/SA-10D, in 1993. The S-300PMU1 was developed between 1985 to 1989, and was first shown at the 1992 Moscow Air Show. S-300PMU1 is composed with unit launchers 5P85S/SE and 5P85T/TE, engagement radar 30N6E1, acquistion radar 76N6E and command post 83M6E.

The S-300 PM/PMU NATO code SA-10C Grumble C was the upgraded standard production version and accepted for operational service around 1990, designated by the Russian S-300 PM (M for modified). S-300PM battery is composed of launcher units 5P85S and 5P85D, 30N6E1 engagement radar, 76N6 low level early warning/ acquisition radar, shared 64N6E acquisition radar and 54K6E command post.

The S-300 PS (first generation) with NATO denomination SA-10B (Grumble B), is a more mobile alternative of the basic version of surface-to-air missile system S-300 PT. A battery of S-300 is composed of launcher units 5P85S and 5P85D with Flap Lid B radar and command post 54K6E.
