United Arab Emirates new requirement for 600 wheeled armoured vehicle personnel carrier.
 
 
The armed forces of the United Arab Emirates intend to buy a new fleet of wheeled armored vehicles, for a total of 600 units in personnel carrier and armoured fighting vehicle variant. Several European companies already made a proposal within the framework of this request, of which Nexter (France), General Dynamics European Land Systems, Rheinmetall (Germany) and Patria (Finland).
     
The armed forces of the United Arab Emirates intend to buy a new fleet of wheeled armored vehicles, for a total of 600 units in personnel carrier and armoured fighting vehicle variant. All these companies presented their vehicles during the International Defence Exhibition IDEX 2011.

With regard to the technical aspect, the vehicle should have an excellent protection related to a mobility and modularity. A version of infantry fighting vehicle could be also proposed to replace a part of the fleet of tracked armoured infantry fighting vehicle BMP-3 of United Arab Emirates armed forces.

Piranha 5 General Dynamics European Land Systems:
The latest member of the PIRANHA family of armoured wheeled vehicles, the PIRANHA 5, will be displayed in the Desert configuration with the Kongsberg .50 cal. Remote Control Weapon Station. This advanced new vehicle will raise the benchmark in the areas of survivability, mobility and firepower, marking unprecedented progress in the development of armoured wheeled vehicles.

PIRANHA 5 provides the highest levels of survivability against conventional and asymmetric threats, while having the capacity to fill all battlefield roles such as APC, Electronic Warfare, Ambulance, Reconnaissance, Command, Mortar and even Direct Fire with turrets up to 120 mm calibre. The vehicle on display at IDEX is an example of what can be achieved with PIRANHA 5, a vehicle that delivers the troop an internal capacity of an APC with seating for a crew of eleven men.

VBCI Nexter (France):
VBCI is a highly protected and armed combat vehicle with excellent mobility to transport, protect and support infantry combat troops and their command means.

Its technical characteristics make it easier to satisfy the needs of armed forces projected to the different operation theatres and facing increasingly severe threats in high intensity combat situations, and also in an urban environment and in peace-keeping missions.

A version of VCI (Infantry Combat Vehicle) is designed for the transport, protection and fire support of combat troops in armoured cars and tanks brigade infantry regiments. It is thus provided principally with a 25 mm turret and a rear compartment designed to hold 8 infantrymen in stealth fighting gear, in addition to the 3 crew members including the commander who will have to disembark with his combat group.
     
The design of the Boxer is based on a modular structure selected to give the maximum flexibility for multi-purpose operation. The Boxer incorporates a high level of standardisation and uses commercially proven automotive components. The 8x8 vehicle provides a load capacity to 8t and has an internal capacity of more than 14m³.

Boxer Rheinmetall (Germany):
The design of the Boxer is based on a modular structure selected to give the maximum flexibility for multi-purpose operation. The Boxer incorporates a high level of standardisation and uses commercially proven automotive components. The 8x8 vehicle provides a load capacity to 8t and has an internal capacity of more than 14m³.

The Mission modules, which fit into the base vehicle, provide static battlefield installations to suit the nation specific requirements, including headquarters, medical units and logistic centres. The modules incorporate a primary safety cell with a triple floor. The base vehicle operates independently from the modules. The units are air transportable. The modules are interchangeable in less than one hour.

Patria AMV offers the latest technology and highest payload capacity enabling the simultaneous integration of high protection level and heavy weapon system without compromising the mobility of the vehicle.

Patria AMV (Finland):
The Patria AMV (Armored Modular Vehicle) is an 8x8 multi-role military vehicle produced by the Finnish defence industry company Patria. Patria AMV offers the latest technology and highest payload capacity enabling the simultaneous integration of high protection level and heavy weapon system without compromising the mobility of the vehicle.

The vehicle is fitted with modular ballistic protection to the customer specification up to a protection level against 30mm armour piercing APFSDS rounds. The maximum internal volume of the 8×8 AMV vehicle is 13m³, the combat weight up to 25t and the payload 10t.
