The SPG-9 Kopye is a Russian-made tripod-mounted man-portable, 73 millimeter caliber recoilless. It fires fin-stabilized, rocket-assisted HE and HEAT projectiles similar to those fired by the 73 mm 2A28 low pressure gun of the BMP-1 armored vehicle. It enters in services with the Russian armed forces in 1962.

During the first trial test of the new Vietnamese recoilless gun SPG-9T2, the weapon was mounted on tracked armored personnel carrier M113.

Compared to other types of recoilless gun and especially the old Soviet-made SPG-9 which has an effective range of 800 m, the new SPG-9T2 has increased its firing range.
