Russian armed forces have released a video on its YouTube account showing test-fire of the new Gibka-S mobile air defense missile systems based on Tigr 4x4 armored vehicle. The Gibka-S was unveiled in August 2017 during the defense Exhibition in Moscow, Army-2017.

The Gibka-S is a mobile air defense missile system based on a modified Tigr 4x4x armored vehicle. The rear part of the Tigr vehicle has been modified to store the weapon system that can be raised on the roof of the vehicle to perform firing operations. On road position, the weapon system can be lowered inside the vehicle.

The weapon system is fitted with four launchers of SA-24 Igla-S or SA-25 9K333 Verba MANPADS (MAN Portable Air Defense System) able to fire surface-to-air missiles 9М336, 9М342, or 9М39. Four additional missiles can be stored inside of the vehicle. The weapon system has a traverse of 360° with elevation from -5° to +80°.

The Gibka-S system’s squad combat and reconnaissance-control vehicles are designed to defend combined-arms units from aircraft flying at low and extremely low altitudes both in the daytime and at night.

The 9M336 missile of 9K333 Verba MANPADS can hit aerial targets at a maximum range of 6 km and an altitude of 4 km while the 9M39 and 9M342 launches by the Igla-S is bale to destroy air targets at a maximum range of 3.5 km and altitude from 5 to 7 km.
