MBDA, a leader in the production of missile system, has unveiled a new concept of mobile ground-to-ground system based on Boxer 8x8 armored vehicle fitted with a launcher pod with 8 individual container that could launched a new stretched version of the Brimstone air-to-surface missile.

The concept of this new mobile ground-to-ground missile system was unveiled in September 2018 by MBDA during the DVD, Defence Vehicle Dynamics that was held in Millbrook, United Kingdom. According to MBDA, the missile could be based on existing products manufactured by MBDA, as the Brimstone and Spear missiles, as well as the Common Anti-air Modular Missile (CAMM).

Brimstone is an air-launched ground attack missile developed by MBDA for Britain's Royal Air Force. It was originally intended for "fire-and-forget" use against mass formations of enemy armour, using a millimetric wave (mmW) active radar homing seeker to ensure accuracy even against moving targets. The Brimstone is operational on Tornado GR4 fighter and integrated on Eurofighter Typhoon and Future Attack Helicopter. The missile can also be operated on a wide range of UAVs, land and
ship platforms.

The SPEAR is a high-precision, air-to-surface missile designed and being developed by UK-based missile systems manufacturer MBDA. The SPEAR is fitted with latest generation multi-mode sensor seeker providing increased selectivity in complex scenarios. The SPEAR missile is effective against air defence units, ballistic missile launchers, hardened structures, fast moving and maneuvering vehicles, main battle tanks, armored personnel carriers and naval vessels.

The CAMM (Common Anti-Air Modular Missile) series is a family of surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles developed by MBDA for the United Kingdom. MBDA has developed a common missile that will meet the future anti-air target requirements of Navies, Armies and Air Forces. Given that the target set, ranging from fast jets and helicopters to cruise missiles and UAVs, is similar across the sea, land and air domains, a weapon solution maximizing modularity and commonality has obvious cost and logistics benefits. A land variant of the CAMM mounted on MAN 4x4 military truck chassis was ordered by the British MoD (Ministry of Defense).

The Boxer could be the next generation of 8x8 armored vehicle that will enter in service with the British army. The Boxer is an 8x8 armored vehicle based on a modular design with a single chassis and powerpack and a modular structure which is mounted at the rear of the chassis that can be adapted and configured to perform a full range of missions.
