USSOCOM orders more Carl-Gustaf ammunition
The US Special Operations Command has ordered more Carl-Gustaf ammunition from the Swedish defence company Saab. The order is under the framework contract which was signed in August 2014 for the procurement of the Carl-Gustaf M3 recoilless rifle system. Deliveries will take place in the 2015-16 period.

Carl-Gustaf is known as MAAWS or Multi-role Anti-Armor Weapon System) in the US service. It has been widely used by the US military in Afghanistan and other areas.

“This order demonstrates the continued confidence of our customer in the capabilities and versatility of the Carl-Gustaf. The system gives soldiers a battle-winning edge through its high accuracy, supreme effectiveness and great versatility,” says Torbjörn Saxmo, head of business unit Ground Combat, Saab.

The Carl-Gustaf M4 is the latest version of the portable, shoulder-launched, multi-role weapon system. It gives users a wide range of engagement options and allows troops to remain agile and effective in any scenario. It builds on the system’s formidable capabilities, offering a higher degree of accuracy, lighter construction and compatibility with future innovations.
