As published by Army Recognition of December 7, in accordance with the Strategic Vision for Defense issued by the Belgian army on June 29, 2016, a tender had been issued for the replacement of the Mercedes Unimog 1300L 4x4 1.9T and the Volvo N10 6x4 trucks. DAF Trucks has been declared winner of the tender but the order is "still uncertain": the matter has been stuck with the Council of State after a complaint from an unlucky competitor.

The Belgian army wants to buy 879 trucks from the Dutch manufacturer DAF, which also has a branch in Belgium, an order spread between 636 4x4 light trucks and 243 8x8 heavy logistical trucks. 352 vehicles wil be armored. The tender is worth 259 million euros, including maintenance contracts.
but the Council of State is considering the matter after a complaint from an unlucky competitor.

The Belgian army badly needs these new trucks to replace the old Unimog U1300Ls and Volvo N10s, which in some cases date back to the 1980s. The public tendering procedure was launched in January 2020.

However designated the winner of the tender, DAF has not yet received the contract: a competing truck builder has approached the Council of State because he does not agree with the award, it sounds in the cabinet of Belgian Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder. It expects a ruling in the case on January 14.
