The soldiers are mainly from the elite regiment, they will help training Afghan troops and to fulfil other tasks. The first part of the soldiers is to leave for Afghanistan in June and they will stay there until 2015.

The Slovak special operations group sent for the NATO operation in Afghanistan will be used to support tasks, mentoring and consultancy for Afghan security forces with a focus on fully carrying out special operational tasks.

This contribution is designed to bridge the critical period due to follow after the termination of the ISAF operation set for 2014.

Besides, Slovakia will prolong the mission of its patrol unit in Kandahar till the end of the year when the ISAF mission will end up.

Slovakia has 253 soldiers deployed within the ISAF mission at present.
