On October 2, 2022, it was announced that Germany, Denmark, and Norway approved a budget to finance the supply to Ukraine of 16 Slovak-made Zuzana 2 155mm 8x8 wheeled self-propelled howitzers.

On June 1, 2022, the Army Recognition editorial team reported that Slovakia will deliver 8 Zuzana 2 155mm wheeled self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine. On August 13, 2022, the Ukrainian army took delivery of the first batch of four Zuzana 2 howitzers which are now deployed in Ukraine to fight the Russian army.

Citing open sources, the Zuzana 2 howitzers are used by Ukrainian armed forces since September 2022. Citing information from the Slovak Ministry of Defense, Ukraine signed a contract with Slovakia for the acquisition of eight Zuzana 2 155mm wheeled self-propelled howitzers in May 2022.

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, more than self-propelled artillery systems from the U.S. and its NATO allies were delivered to Ukraine including PzH 2000 from Germany and Netherlands, Krab from Poland, CAESAR from France, M109 from Italy, Norway and UK, Zuzana 2 from Slovakia, and Soviet-made 2S1 donated by Poland and the Czech Republic.

The donation of European self-propelled howitzers to the Ukrainian army is a key element to get a tactical advantage over the Russian armed forces which have a large quantity of artillery systems deployed in Ukraine. The European howitzers offer more firepower and can use precision-guided ammunition.

The Zuzana 2 is a Slovak-made 155mm wheeled self-propelled artillery system equipped with an automatic loading ammunition system. The howitzer is capable to provide effective fire by both direct and indirect aiming.

The Zuzana 2 is armed with a 155mm 52 caliber gun which is able to fire all the standard 155mm NATO ammunition at a maximum firing range of 41.5 km using ERFB-BB
(Explosive Extended-Range Full-Bore - Base Burne) shells. The howitzer carries a total of 40 rounds of ammunition and charges.
