Launched in 2017 by Germany and France, the MGCS aims to replace the current main battle tanks Leopard 2 and Leclerc. It will not be a single armored combat vehicle but a series of systems designed around this vehicle. Developed and manufactured by KNDS and Rheinmetall (which joined the project in 2019), the first production unit is expected in 2035.
