International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) of Pakistan was conceived after the successful conduct of first international Pakistan Naval Defence Show 1999 which was held at Karachi from 22 – 25 February 1999. First IDEAS was held in 2000 and subsequent IDEAS were organized biennially. 8th IDEAS was held in 2014 and 9th IDEAS is planned in Nov 2016.
The International Defence Exhibition and Seminar is a premier defence industry show and the region’s best platform for international defence systems promotion. Azerbaijan is the largest country in the South Caucasus region. The first defence factories in independent Azerbaijan were founded in 1918. Based on existing facilities. they were effective workshops set up to repair the various types of military equipment of the newly established Azerbaijani Army. Following Azerbaijan’s entry to the USSR, these factories became part of the Soviet defence industry, and during the Second World War they produced a range of military hardware. Thus, factories of the military-industrial complex of Azerbaijan operated round-the-clock production and repair of the UTI-4 and YaK-3 fighter planes and missiles for the legendary Katyusha rocket launcher.
After regaining Azerbaijan’s independence and especially after Heydar Aliyev returned to power in 1993, a series of effective economic reforms began, and over the past 20 years Azerbaijan has achieved almost total energy, infrastructural, and the most important financial independence. In recent years, state investment activity has notably moved towards developing the domestic defence industry. Azerbaijan’s government has assigned the issue of localizing production of staple military hardware as a strategic development matter for the coming decades. This has been confirmed by state investment programmes aimed at developing domestic military production over this period, primarily the establishment of the Ministry of Defence Industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan by Ilham Aliyev’s Presidential order on 16 December 2005. |

A range of major projects have been completed in Azerbaijan’s defence industry, and production capacity for military goods has been dramatically expanded. Thus, the armored vehicles, sniper rifles of different calibers, automatic rifles, pistols, machine guns, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), grenade launchers, mortars, optical-mechanical & optoelectronic devices can be shown to be products the manufacturing of which were launched by the Ministry during a certain period of activity. Furthermore, all types of ammunition are currently produced by the enterprises of the Ministry.
Scientific Research Institutes engaged in space research and other R&D are operating in the country. At present, around 700 different items and models are produced. Azerbaijan’s Ministry of the Defence Industry is actively expanding defence industrial cooperation with a large number of countries, based on collaboration, partnership, JV and offsetting. |

The ASEAN Hall combined participation from ASEAN countries in the Defence Procurement Centre (DPC), ASEAN Defence Industry Collaboration Workshop (ADIC) Pavilion and some Malaysian representatives from the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) booth, Science & Technology Research Institute for Defence (STRIDE) booth, Malaysian Industry Council for Defence, Enforcement and Security (MIDES) Pavilion and also the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) booth.

The Eurosatory exhibition confirms year after year, its uncontested leadership for land and airland Defence and Security matters. In 2014, the exhibition welcomed more than 1 500 exhibitors from 59 countries and 55 784 professional visitors from more than 140 countries visited the exhibition. The event also hosted 172 official delegations from 87 countries. Besides, there were also 707 journalists coming from all over the world, as well as more than 7 800 representatives of the armed and security forces from 110 countries. The exhibition also opened its doors to high-level experts, also called “Eurosatory guests”. In 2014 they were almost 180 coming from 36 countries.
The 2016 edition, to be held from the 13th to the 17th of June, at Paris Nord Villepinte, will increase again this success and will make Eurosatory the major exhibition for the players of this domain. Eurosatory continues its ascent with an unrivalled label of quality. |

Unquestionably an international exhibition, Eurosatory welcomes a wide variety of international players from land and airland Defence and Security fields. Every exhibition has seen the international attendance increase, whether it was about exhibitors, visitors, or medias. Eurosatory 2016 sees the number of exhibitors increase once again and new countries such as Colombia will appear. This newcomer strengthens the Latin America presence, along with Brazil and Argentina. We also notice the strengthening of other geographic areas. This is the case for Asia, with Japan that comes back in force for its second participation to Eurosatory and South Korea which will also be more represented. Eurosatory is set up as a Business platform between all the players of land and airland Defence and Security: manufacturers of the sector, armed forces, security forces, politicians and players of private security, under the critical but constructive Medias analysis. The whole Defence and Security industry is represented at the exhibition, from prime contractors to subcontractors, they are all present. A lot of tools are developed in order to make their exchanges easier and to help the companies in their export strategy. The exhibition offers Business Meetings to gather major companies buyers with manufacturers offering customized solutions. The Networking Exhibitors & Visitors service enables easier exchanges between these two players. Before the show, visitors can prepare meetings with exhibiting companies who applied to this service. Every year, the exhibition struggles to highlight all equipment on display, including by technology clusters and thematic paths reachable in paper version or via the exhibition’s IT application. Furthermore, if the size of the equipment on display seems to give Defence a very dominant position, a closer look at the exhibited products shows a real balance between the exhibitors having a Defence dominant feature (60%) and those with a Security dominant feature (40%).
