8x8 wheeled armored vehicle - Czech Republic
The Pandur II is a wheeled armored vehicle that was developed by the Austrian company Steyr-Daimler-Puch Spezialfahrzeuge which is now part of General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS). Based on its experience in the design, development, and production of the Pandur 1 (6 × 6) family of light armored vehicles Steyr-Daimler-Puch Spezialfahrzeug has developed the enhanced Pandur II family as a private venture. In 2006, General Dynamics announced that the Czech Republic has selected its European Land Combat Systems subsidiary Steyr-Daimler-Puch Spezialfahrzeug GmbH of Austria to supply its army with 199 new eight-wheeled Pandur II armored personnel carriers (APCs) between 2007-2012. The first version of the Pandur II was designed as IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) and can be configured in a 6x6 or 8x8 configuration. Other variants are also available including command post, anti-tank guided weapon carrier, forward observer vehicle, battlefield ambulance, engineer, and armored recovery vehicles. The Pandur II is now in service with Austria, the Czech Republic, Indonesia, and Portugal. The Pandur II is now produced under license in Czech Republic by Tatra Defense Vehicle and Excalibur Army.
