New Theeb Long-Range patrol vehicle for Bahrain Special Forces


The Special Forces of Bahrain Royal Guard unveils its new home-made Theeb long-range patrol vehicle at BIDEC 2017, the Bahrain International Defense Exhibition and Conference. The Theeb was designed by His Highness Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa commander of the Bahrain Royal Guard Special Forces based on a Toyota Land Cruiser chassis.

One of the main feature of the Theeb is the manual sliding door mounted on each side at the front the vehicle that provides protection against firing of small arms for driver and commander. There is additional armour plates at the rear side of the vehicle which offer the same level of protection . The side armour is B6 17mm thickness polyethylene panels.

The vehicle can carry a total of five military personnel with driver and commander at the front and three seats on the back side, with two faced to the rear.

At the center of the vehicle, there is one NIMER circular ring fun mounting system which is armed with one M2 .50 caliber heavy machine gun. The commander position is equipped with one swivel station armed with a 7.62mm machine gun. There is one more additional swivel station at the rear of the vehicle which can be armed with a 7.62 or 5.56mm machine gun.

To increase the protection of the crew and troops, the top of the vehicle is fitted with a tubular frame roll-bar.

The THEEB long-range patrol vehicle is based on a 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser chassis


The Theeb can run at a maximum road speed of 140 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 1,000 km. It has a Gross Vehicle Weight of 4,300 kg and a length of 5.71 m, width of 2.42 m and a total height of 2.42 m.

Standard equipment of the Theeb includes two spare wheels, mounted on each side of the vehicle, Hutchinson run flat system, and one electric winch located at the front of the vehicle.
