Russia denies S-400 air defence system’s deployment in Syria
Russia has denied the news regarding the deployment of the Almaz S-400 Triumf air-defence system in Syria, according to TASS news agency. Russian Defence Ministry’s spokesperson, Major General Igor Konashenkov, said that the news were “misinformation”, during a Press tour for a group of international journalists at the Hmeymim air base in Syria.

A total of 50 journalists from 12 countries of Europe, Asia and America were invited by the Russian MoD to visit the airbase to be informed on the mission of the Russian forces and have a first-hand experience on their daily life. That is the preparations of the mission and the aircraft crews, the maintenance of the equipment and its actual use, as well as the results of those missions through data collected by various platforms.

As Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov stated that the journalists who visited the air base for three days saw everything, including the air defence systems deployed. They witnessed that no S-400 were in the base.

According to TASS news agency's report, the Russian Air Force has deployed in Syria 50 aircraft, of various types such as Sukhoi Su-24M, Su-25, Su-30SM and Su-34, and Mil Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters.
