Reconnaissance units of Russian airborne troops will receive more Rys 4x4 armoured vehicles.
Russian Airborne reconnaissance units will receive more than 40 Rys 4x4 special armored fighting vehicles before the end of the month, the Russian Defense Ministry’s press office said. The Rys is the Russian name for the LMV 4x4 light multirole armoured vehicle manufactured by the Italian Company IVECO Defence Vehicles.

"More than 40 Rys special armored vehicles will be delivered to Airborne Force reconnaissance units before the end of April 2017. After receiving the vehicles, the reconnaissance units will put them into operation as quickly as possible to use them in future tactical and special drills," the press office said.

A total of 67 Rys vehicles were delivered to the Russian armed forces in 2012 and 358 locally assembled between 2013 and 2014. The Rys is in service with the Military Police and Missile Forces of Russian armed forces.

The Iveco LMV (Light Multirole Vehicle) is a 4x4 tactical vehicle developed by Iveco, and in service with several countries. The Light Multipurpose Vehicle (LMV) was originally developed by the IVECO Defence Vehicles as a private venture with the first of 10 prototypes being completed in 2001.

The IVECO LMV is designed to provides high level of protection aqgainst against mine blast. The modular protection system with modular armour packs protects the vehicle and its crew against any type of ballistic and mine threats. The floor of the vehicle uses V-shaped technology to increase protection of the vehicle against blast from a landmine.
