Italian IVECO Rys 4x4 light multirole vehicle will enter in service with Russian army military police.
The Rys combat armored car from Italian manufacturer Iveco will be fielded with the Russian Military Police (MP), according to the Izvestia daily. The decision to field the Rys armored cars with MP brigades has been made based on the experience gained in the Syrian operation. MPs have started receiving their first Ryses.

The delivery is planned to take about a year. Several hundred Ryses are sitting at wheeled vehicle storage depots now.

The Russian Defense Ministry placed the order for IVECO 65E19WM (LMV) armored cars by the initiative of former Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov. To make them, IVECO’s subsidiary Iveco Russia and Oboronservis LLC set up a joint venture dubbed MVPS that launched complete knockdown assembly of Ryses on the premises of the 127th Wheeled Vehicle Repair Plant in Voronezh, using knockdown kits supplied from Italy.

The Russian-built LMV is named Rys', and is built by different plants firms around Russia.

The Iveco LMV (Light Multirole Vehicle) is a 4x4 tactical vehicle developed by Iveco, and in service with several countries. The Light Multipurpose Vehicle (LMV) was originally developed by the IVECO Defence Vehicles as a private venture with the first of 10 prototypes being completed in 2001.

The LMV Iveco can carried a total of 4 military personnel with driver and commander at the front. It can be fitted with modular armour, who gives a protection against any type of mine and ballistic threats, favoring crew protection versus vehicle integrity. The LMV is designed to provide the crew with the maximum possible safety against mines
