Indodefence 2025: Nurol Makina’s NMS 4x4 Offers Flexibility and Protection for Southeast Asia.

At the Indodefence 2025 exhibition in Jakarta, Nurol Makina showcased its NMS 4x4 light armored vehicle, a model already operational with Indonesian police units. The Turkish manufacturer is now aiming to extend the vehicle’s use to the Indonesian armed forces while promoting its capabilities to neighboring Southeast Asian countries. In an exclusive interview with Army Recognition, Mehmet Çorbacıoğlu, Nurol Makina’s Business Development Director, outlines the performance of the NMS 4x4 and the company’s regional ambitions.

The NMS 4x4 is already in use in Indonesia, with approximately 80 units deployed by BRIMOB, the Mobile Brigade Corps of the Indonesian police, specialized in counterterrorism, riot control, and high-risk tactical operations. This operational deployment serves as a reference point for Nurol Makina and reinforces the vehicle’s credibility among other potential users, particularly within the national armed forces.

Developed to meet both military and internal security requirements, the NMS 4x4 is characterized by its mobility, protection features, and modularity. Its monocoque V-shaped hull and scalable composite armor protect against ballistic threats, mines, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The vehicle can carry up to 11 personnel, reach speeds of 140 km/h, climb 70% gradients, cross 90 cm deep water, and overcome 0.5-meter obstacles.

The modular design of the NMS 4x4 supports a range of operational roles, including troop transport, reconnaissance, command and control, fire support, air defense, and specialized variants such as radar or anti-tank configurations. Depending on mission needs, the vehicle can be fitted with 7.62 mm or 12.7 mm machine guns, 40 mm grenade launchers, or remote weapon stations. Additional equipment includes integrated communications, run-flat tires, side-firing loops, and simplified maintenance systems.

In our interview, Mehmet Çorbacıoğlu emphasized that the NMS 4x4 is not a conceptual model but a platform already proven in the field. At Indodefence 2025, the company’s objective is twofold: to address the growing interest from the Indonesian armed forces and to introduce the vehicle to other regional markets such as Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, where demand for light armored vehicles is increasing.

With its existing presence in Indonesia and a clearly defined regional outreach strategy, Nurol Makina positions the NMS 4x4 as a flexible and deployable solution for contemporary operational needs. Indodefence 2025 marks a step in the company’s effort to expand and consolidate its presence in the Southeast Asian defense sector.
