Held under the theme “A Global Hub for Defence Innovations: Invest in Possibilities to Shape a Secure Tomorrow”, DIMDEX 2026 seeks to drive technological innovation, promote strategic investments in future-oriented maritime capabilities, and contribute to the development of a safer and more sustainable maritime environment. For the first time, the event will extend over four full days, reflecting its continued growth and expanding scope.
The exhibition is expected to gather defence ministers, chiefs of staff, senior government officials, naval commanders, and industry executives in Doha. It will provide a space for strategic dialogue and business interaction, alongside a display of recent advancements in naval defence systems and maritime equipment. According to Staff Brigadier (Sea) Abdulbaqi Saleh Al-Ansari, Chairman of the Organising Committee, this extended format aligns with the event’s intention to serve as a platform for international cooperation and defence-related investment.
DIMDEX is structured around four main elements. The Exhibition will feature leading defence companies presenting systems, technologies, and solutions. The Middle East Naval Commanders Conference (MENC) will offer a forum for military leaders to address current issues in maritime security. VIP Delegations will facilitate direct engagement between exhibitors and key decision-makers. The Visiting Warships Display at Hamad Port will provide insight into modern naval capabilities, underlining the role of in-person demonstrations at defence events.
Since its inception, DIMDEX has evolved into a venue for presenting cutting-edge defence technologies and facilitating security-focused discussions on both regional and international levels. Its track record includes a growing number of local and international exhibitors and the regular attendance of high-level delegations. The previous edition recorded a peak of 25,000 visitors, with even higher participation anticipated for 2026, further extending the event’s global reach.
In addition to its industry focus, DIMDEX also contributes to Qatar’s economic development. The presence of thousands of participants and visitors supports national economic diversification goals and aligns with the Qatar National Vision 2030, which prioritises enhanced security and long-term prosperity. By providing a space dedicated to defence-related innovation and cooperation, DIMDEX 2026 aims to support broader efforts to reinforce international maritime security.
