Indeed, after the Ukrainian-made T-84 Oplot main battle tank and the 2S22 Bohdana 6x6 155mm truck-mounted self-propelled howitzers, the Ukrainian army has now involved its Bureviy 220mm MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System).

Before the war, Ukraine had a very strong defense industry that provided armies and military equipment in the land, air, and naval sectors. Having broad geography of cooperation and trade during more than 25 years of the activity in the world armament firm has fulfilled export and import supplies of military and security equipment, armament, and services to more than 30 countries in the different regions of the world.

The Bureviy 220mm MLRS is one of the latest combat systems developed by the Ukrainian defense industry. In November 2020, it was reported that the Ukrainian company The Shepetivka Repair Plant, in accordance with a joint decision with the Ministry of Defense, tested the latest version of the Bureviya MLRS.

According to our analysis of the video published on the Internet Social Networks, the Bureviy 220mm MLRS seems to be based on the latest generation of T815 8x8 military truck chassis designed and manufactured by the Czech company. The front of the vehicle is fitted with a new armored cabin providing a high level of protection against ballistic and mine threats.

Citing information from the Ukrainian manufacturer, the Bureviy 220mm MLRS is fitted with a launcher pod that is similar to the Soviet-made BM-27 Uragan MLRS consisting of an upper layer of four tubes and two lower layers of six tubes so giving a total of 16 launch tubes. The launcher weapon station is mounted on a turntable at the rear of the truck chassis with powered elevation from 0 to +55º and a powered traverse of 30º left and right.

The Bureviy 220mm MLRS is fitted with a digital fire control system, including an information exchange system on the battlefield. The rocket launcher vehicle has a firing range from 35 to 65 km, which is superior to the range of the Russian BM-27 which has a maximum firing range of 40 km. it can fire all the standard soviet-made 220mm unguided rockets.

The Bureviy 220mm MLRS is based on the latest generation Tatra truck T 815–7T3RC1 8×8.1R. The 8×8 all-wheel drive chassis is built on an independent suspension and backbone tube frame, unique characteristics of the TATRA-concept chassis proven for more than 90 years. The truck is motorized with an air-cooled, V-type, 4-stroke, turbocharged, charge air-cooled, direct injection Diesel engine coupled to a manual 14-speed transmission with a semi-automatic split with 14 forward and 2 reverse gears. The truck can run at a maximum road speed of 105 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 700 km.
