Anadolu shipyard from Turkey launches first Cadet Training Ship Al Doha for Qatari Navy.

According to information released by the Turkish Ministry of National Defence on October 8, 2020, Anadolu shipyard from Turkey has officially launched the Cadet Training Ship (CTS) Al-Doha QTS 91 build for the Qatari Navy.

In March 2018, during the DIMDEX Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition that was held in Qatar, Turkish Anadolu Shipyard has announced an order from the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces (QENF) for two Cadet Training Ships (CTS) with space allocations for theoretical and practical training facilities for the cadets and the instructors.

The ship has been built in Istanbul by Anadolu Shipyard who is a strategic partner of the Turkish MoD (Ministry of Defense) for the navy shipbuilding program. Having already completed and delivered the amphibious ships of 8 LCT, 2 LST with 8 LCVPs to the Turkish Navy, the shipyard is well organized that the first CTS ship for the Qatari Navy was built in less than 24 months. 

The ship has an approximate length of 90 meters and 1.950 tonnes of full load displacement. Besides basic naval cadet training, The CTS a helipad for medium size helicopter on the stern and will be capable to provide combat management and weapon training to the trainees as well. A secondary mission such as offshore patrol duties can be carried out.

The ship has been specifically designed to meet the Qatari Navy needs. They will be used to train the future Qatari Navy personnel. The ships will be equipped with classrooms, training areas,... The ship has the capacity to train 76 naval cadets.
