The air defense system in question is characterized by advanced technological capabilities, validated through operational use. Levy noted that this deal is part of a series of recent transactions, contributing to IAI's recognition as a participant in the global air defense sector.

Founded in 1953 as Bedek Aviation Company, IAI has grown into a global aerospace and aviation manufacturer with around 15,000 employees. Initially focused on aircraft maintenance for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the company now operates in both military and civilian aerospace sectors, producing various products such as aircraft, drones, fighter planes, missiles, avionics, and space systems.

Details regarding the specific type of air defense system and the recipient nation remain confidential, despite inquiries from several websites. However, IAI has disclosed that the system possesses advanced technological capabilities and operational reliability, indicating its effectiveness in real-world scenarios.

There is speculation within Israeli media space that the system could be the Barak air defense system, known for its variants like Barak MR (Medium Range) with a range of up to 35 km and Barak ER (Extended Range) capable of covering distances up to 150 km. These missiles have demonstrated proficiency in intercepting aircraft, medium-range ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles. The Barak system has been previously acquired by countries such as Morocco, Colombia, and India, with India participating in the development phase of the Barak 8 variant.

IAI's global presence in the air defense market is reflected in its offerings, including the Arrow 3 long-range air defense system, Arrow 2 short/medium-range anti-ballistic missile system, Barak family of air defense systems, and the Eagle Eye III very short air-defense system. This recent deal, ranking as the third-largest for an Israeli air defense system, follows the recent sales of the Arrow 3 system to Germany for $3.5 billion and the Barak 8 system to India for $1.8 billion.
