MSPO 2025: Poland discloses Rosomak-L armored vehicle upgraded with remote turret and anti-tank system.

According to information published by Army Recognition at MSPO 2025 in Kielce, Poland, the Polish defense industry has unveiled a new variant of the Rosomak 8x8 wheeled armored vehicle, designated Rosomak-L, equipped with the Turra 30 SA remotely operated turret. This modernized platform, showcased by Rosomak S.A. under the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), emphasizes enhanced firepower, sensor fusion, and integrated survivability systems tailored for modern high-threat combat environments.

The Rosomak-L is a lengthened version of the proven Rosomak platform, itself based on the Finnish Patria AMV, adapted under license for the Polish Armed Forces. The "L" variant features an extended hull, offering greater internal volume for troop transport, additional mission equipment, or increased modular payload options. At the heart of its combat capability lies the Slovak-origin Turra 30 SA turret, a lightweight (1,600 kg) remotely operated weapon system designed for both wheeled and tracked platforms. This turret configuration provides the Rosomak-L with advanced direct and indirect fire capabilities while minimizing exposure of personnel.

Armed with a 30mm automatic cannon and coaxial 7.62mm machine gun, the Turra 30 SA is further augmented by twin launchers for the Israeli SPIKE LR/LR2 anti-tank guided missiles. This configuration enables the Rosomak-L to engage both armored threats and fortified positions at ranges exceeding 4 kilometers. The turret also integrates a suite of situational awareness tools including a Multi-Mission Radar, an anti-sniper detection system, and acoustic gunshot detection. The onboard fire control and threat tracking algorithms support effective target acquisition under day/night and adverse weather conditions.

Beyond lethality, the Rosomak-L also addresses survivability. While the base vehicle offers crew protection up to STANAG 4569 Level 3, the turret is protected to Level 1, reflecting a design balance between weight and combat effectiveness. The turret's architecture also allows for future integration of an Active Protection System (APS), a key consideration in environments where top-attack threats and loitering munitions are proliferating. The modularity and scalable systems integration make this platform adaptable to NATO interoperability standards and modern multi-domain operations.

This upgraded Rosomak variant arrives at a time of heightened defense procurement across Eastern Europe. Poland, having dramatically increased its defense budget in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, continues to prioritize the modernization of its ground forces. While the core Rosomak fleet has been in service since the early 2000s, the introduction of new variants like the Rosomak-L illustrates Warsaw’s intent to remain technologically agile. The integration of the Turra 30 SA, developed by Slovak company EVPÚ Defence, also reflects growing regional cooperation among NATO allies in the face of shared security threats.

With multiple NATO armies now seeking rapid upgrades to their mechanized fleets, the Rosomak-L 8x8 could serve not only as a new asset for the Polish Land Forces but also as a competitive export product. Its high mobility, firepower, and networked combat systems position it as a viable solution for both national defense and multinational operational deployments under NATO or EU flags. The unveiling at MSPO 2025 confirms Poland’s commitment to strengthening its domestic defense manufacturing base while ensuring its land forces are equipped for the evolving threats of near-peer conflict scenarios.
