CSG Chaser LM Smart Loitering Munition Combines 40 km Reach with Armor Piercing Capability.
CSG unveiled the Chaser LM Smart Loitering Munition at Future Forces Forum in Prague, where Army Recognition Group examined a portable precision-strike system designed to give tactical forces a 40 km engagement reach and an armor-piercing capability against protected targets. Combining electro-optical surveillance, intelligent target tracking and onboard decision-support algorithms, the Chaser LM can loiter to locate and follow a target before conducting a precision attack, providing ground units with a rapidly deployable weapon that integrates reconnaissance and strike functions in a single lightweight system.

During Future Forces Forum in Prague, Czech Republic, CSG presented the Chaser LM Smart Loitering Munition, revealing a compact precision strike system conceived around portability, rapid deployment and multiplatform integration. Army Recognition Group, present at Future Forces Forum as a media partner to report on the newest defense developments, examined the presentation as CSG and Excalibur International highlighted a solution combining electro-optical observation, intelligent target tracking and precision engagement within a lightweight architecture.
The Chaser LM reflects the growing importance of compact loitering munitions able to provide tactical units with both observation and strike functions from a single system. According to information presented by Excalibur International, the munition uses EO cameras together with intelligent tracking and decision-making algorithms during flight, following the selected mission mode. The company emphasizes high-precision engagement as a means of minimizing collateral damage while maximizing effectiveness against the designated target. From an operational perspective, this combination of onboard observation and tracking capability is particularly relevant for forces seeking a responsive precision weapon that can remain available in the target area before transitioning to an attack. CSG's presentation in Prague demonstrated a coherent approach in which the munition is considered not simply as an air vehicle but as part of a complete strike architecture encompassing launch equipment, control systems and integration with different platforms.

The technical characteristics presented for Chaser LM reinforce this compact tactical concept. The munition has a stated cruise speed of 120 km/h and can reach 180 km/h during the dive phase, with an endurance exceeding 20 minutes. Excalibur International lists a maximum operational altitude of 250 meters above ground level and 5,000 meters above mean sea level, together with a line-of-sight range exceeding 30 km and a loiter range of more than 40 km. Particularly notable is the system's low weight: the munition is listed at approximately 1.5 kg including the warhead, rising to 3.5 kg including the launching tube. Taken together, these figures point to a system designed to combine mobility with useful stand-off reach, allowing relatively small teams to transport and deploy a precision strike capability without the logistical footprint normally associated with heavier weapon systems.
The payload characteristics displayed at Future Forces Forum further underline the intended versatility of Chaser LM. Information provided by the company refers to a 400-gram multipurpose payload, armor-piercing performance of 180 mm RHA, and anti-personnel and high-explosive effects. The stated 180 mm RHA capability is particularly significant because it indicates that the system is intended to address more than exposed personnel or unprotected targets, extending its potential application to certain protected and armored targets. The system is also designed for rapid field employment: its modular architecture allows it to be transported in a reusable portable tube and, according to the company, deployed in less than two minutes by a single operator. This combination of low system weight, rapid deployment and different effect options highlights the attention CSG and Excalibur International have placed on tactical flexibility and ease of employment.
Another important feature presented in Prague is the Chaser LM's multiplatform launch architecture. Rather than restricting the weapon to a single man-portable launcher, the scalable cartridge system is designed for integration with a range of air, sea and ground platforms through the Power Take Off system. Munitions can be loaded manually or automatically into an integrated platform, creating possibilities for configurations extending beyond individual operator employment. Command and control is provided through a ground control station embedded in a rugged touch screen computer, with secure communications and a user-friendly interface designed for compatibility with existing vehicle mission computers. This approach is one of the most compelling aspects of the Chaser LM concept because it gives the same basic munition architecture potential relevance across different operational environments while simplifying integration for customers seeking to incorporate loitering munitions into existing platforms.
The system's presentation also highlighted the industrial framework supporting Chaser LM. Excalibur International serves as an export agency for CSG, representing the group's portfolio of products and services as well as solutions from trusted partners, while supporting large-scale international projects through a single point of contact that can include financing and logistics. This broader capability gives the Chaser LM presentation additional relevance: prospective customers are being shown not only an individual munition but an integrated solution backed by an organization capable of addressing platform integration, international program management and logistical requirements. The presentation of the system by CSG and Excalibur International at the Future Forces Forum underscored the group’s ability to combine engineering expertise, systems integration and international project experience in addressing emerging battlefield requirements.
Future Forces Forum once again offered an important setting in Prague for the defense and security community to assess technologies responding to rapidly changing operational demands, and the Chaser LM represented a particularly relevant example of this evolution. Its combination of a 1.5 kg munition, more than 20 minutes of endurance, a stated loiter range exceeding 40 km, 180 mm RHA armor-piercing capability, rapid single-operator deployment and integration across air, sea and ground platforms gives the system a distinctive combination of portability and flexibility. With Army Recognition Group reporting directly from the event as a media partner, the Chaser LM presentation provided a close look at how CSG and Excalibur International are approaching the expanding requirement for compact, intelligent and adaptable precision strike systems while demonstrating the depth and professionalism of the Czech defense industry's contribution to the future battlefield.
