Russia: 2S7M Malka 203mm self-propelled guns destroy targets at 50km


High-power self-propelled artillery guns 2S7M Malka trained fire at Trekhrechye range in Amur region. They destroyed targets at various distances and for the first time fired at the maximum range of 50 km, the Eastern Military District said.

"The 203mm guns stopped the advance of major adversary forces and destroyed the command post and hardware accumulations. Various munitions were fired. Close to 20 fire missions were accomplished," it said. Close to one thousand artillery men participated in the fire drills.

High-power Malka 2S7M guns were supplied to the artillery formation of the district deployed in Amur region in late 2015. Early next year they held the first fire drills.

2S7M Malka is an improved version of the Soviet-made 2S7 Pion with an increased rate of fire from 1.5 to 2.5 rds/min. The vehicle with its cannon weights 46 tons and the crew comprises seven men.
