Ukraine to test new Triton 4x4 armoured vehicle which will be used by Ukrainian Border Guards.
According an Ukrainian media, the Kyiv PJSC will make trial test of its new 4x4 armoured vehicle personnel carrier called "Triton". The first prototype of the vehicle was built in September 2015. A total of 62 Triton armoured vehicles has been ordered by the Ukrainian Border Guard equipped with reconnaissance and observation equipment to control the Ukrainian-Russian border.

The Triton is a 4x4 armoured vehicle personnel carrier using components of the Russian-made BTR-80. The vehicle has a combat weight of 11 tons and is motorized with a Volvo Diesel engine TAD620VE developing 155 hp at 2,500 coupled an automatic Allison transmission 1000 SR.

The state of the art, high-tech injection and charging system with low internal losses contributes to excellent combustion and low fuel consumption. The TAD620VE complies with EU Stage 2, EPA/CARB Tier 2 exhaust emission regulations.
 
The Triton 4x4 APC can run at a maximum road speed of 110 km/h with a maximum cruising range of up to 700 km. It can carried a total of 7 military personnel including driver and commander.
 

The hull of the Triton offers a protection STANAG 4569 Level 2 which offers a ballistic protection against firing of small arms 7.62×39mm caliber API BZ at 30 meters with 695 m/s and 6kg mine Explosion pressure activated under the wheels.

The prototype of the Triton was equipped with a reconnaissance and electronic warfare systems including two-channel television monitoring system for day and night operations. There is also a thermal vision system, a laser range finder and full radio communication system.

The rear of the hull is fitted with a telescopic mast which is equipped with a video and thermal imaging camera.
     
At the rear of the vehicle, a radar antenna is mounted on a telescopic mast which can be erected at a maximum height of 4.5 meters. This mast includes also a video and thermal imaging camera.
 
 

The mast can be removed from the vehicle and can be remotely controlled at a maximum distance of 100 m from the vehicle. The Triton is equipped with an independent heating and poser supply to conduct surveillance operations continuously during 7 days.

For its self-protection, the Triton is fitted with a remotely weapon station armed with a 12.7mm heavy machine gun NSVT. There is also two banks of three smoke grenade dischargers mounted on each side of the machine gun.

The Triton is able to cross river without any preparation, but there is also an amphibious version of the vehicle.
