Eurosatory 2018: Hertz Systems’ DroneCatcher

Manufactured by the Polish company Hertz Systems, the Hawk anti-drone system has been designed for detection and neutralization of intrusive unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). With this DroneCatcher, drone/UAV threats can be neutralized.

The DroneCatcher is one of the very few counter-drone systems which is capable not only to delete the threat but also to catch and bring the intrusive drone to a selected place. It has been initiated by Delft Dynamics supported by the Dutch Marechaussee (military police), the Dutch national police and the Dutch ministry of Safety and Justice.

After detection and detailed identification of the intrusive drone by a radar, vision or acoustic system, the Drone Catcher is a ‘multicopter’ will quickly approach its target. With the use of multiple onboard sensors, the netgun can be locked on it and shoot its net on it, then bring the intrusive drone to a place selected by the pilot. When the caught drone is too heavy to tow, it can be dropped with a parachute to ensure low impact on the ground.

The system has been designed as a whole but a customer may buy only some elements of it, should he already have some devices that already fulfill some roles of the counter-drone action.
