This tender generated interest from several companies but the contract has been won by the association of which Cohemo is part. Cohemo, headquartered in Madrid, is a Spanish company specialized in supply, engineering and maintenance in the defense sector. It benefits from more than 30 years of experience in cooperating with the army.

With another company, Cohemo has won the tender worth some 600,000 euros, which foresees modernization tasks, logistic support and training courses. By using the new system, it will be possible to simulate both the driving of the Leopard 2A4 and simulated situations imposing the use of the turret systems. All of this is expected to be fully compatible with Leopard 2E through certain upgrades.

Currently, the Ground Force operates 108 Leopard 2A4 main battle tanks. They were purchased in 2006 for 17 million euros in a deal with the German government.
