The PzH 2000 is a tracked 155mm self-propelled howitzer that was designed and developed by the German company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW). The production of the howitzer for the German army started in the second half of 1997. The first production system was completed early in 1998 and, following company trials, was handed over to the German Army in July 1998.

The layout of the PzH 2000 is standard for a self-propelled howitzer with the driver seated at the front right, the power pack to the left, and the turret towards the rear. The hull and the turret of the artillery vehicle provide protection against the firing of small arms and artillery shell splinters. The armor at the front part of the hull provides protection against the firing of 14.5 mm caliber weapons. The PzH 2000 has a crew of five.

The main armament of the PzH 2000 consists of a Rheinmetall 155mm 52 cal. gun with a chromium-plated barrel and semi-automatic lifting breech block with an integrated 32-round standard primer magazine. The PzH 2000 can fire all the NATO standard 155mm ammunition with a maximum firing range of with standard HE-FRAG projectile and 40 km with extended range projectile.
