Trailblazer's safety design has been developed in compliance with the IEC61508 standard. The system has been assessed and found to comply with IEC61508 SIL 2 and ISO26262 Automotive Safety Integrity Level B (ASIL B), the functional safety standard for road vehicles.

Compliance with these standards allows the Trailblazer system to be used as the driver's primary vision system, allowing driving with the hatch closed in tracked and wheeled armored vehicles. The system is already the chosen vehicle vision provider for the British Army's Boxer mechanized infantry vehicle and Challenger 3.

The Trailblazer system extends visibility beyond the normal daytime spectrum and is capable of operating in adverse weather and low light conditions using enhanced thermal imaging. The system uses Rheinmetall Electronics UK's video fusion algorithm. It can be configured with multiple camera modules providing fields of view covering 68°, 90°, 180° and 240°. The system can also serve as both a Driver Indirect Vision System (DVIS) and a Local Situational Awareness System (LSAS) when multiple modules are placed around the vehicle.
