Spain Partners with U.S. to Produce PAC-3 Missile Parts in Patriot System Supply Chain.

On May 14, 2025, Lockheed Martin España S.A., a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), announced the signing of a major industrial cooperation agreement with the Spanish Ministry of Defense. The agreement, unveiled during the International Defence and Security Exhibition (FEINDEF 2025) in Madrid, represents a significant milestone in the strategic partnership between the United States and Spain. It aims to enhance Spain’s domestic defense manufacturing capabilities by involving national defense companies in the production of critical components for the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (PAC-3 MSE).

Under this strategic pact, Spanish defense technology leaders Sener and Oesía Tecnobit are now integral contributors to the global PAC-3 MSE supply chain. Sener will focus on the design and development of high-performance missile actuators aligned with Lockheed Martin's stringent technical specifications. Concurrently, Oesía Tecnobit is tasked with the production of specialized cabling and harness systems critical to PAC-3 MSE missile functionality. This collaboration not only reinforces the robustness of the missile’s complex subsystems but also ensures Spain’s defense industry a prominent role in the ongoing evolution of one of the world’s most advanced interceptor systems.

Brian Kubik, Lockheed Martin's Vice President of PAC-3 Programs, highlighted the strategic importance of the collaboration, stating that allied industrial partnerships like this one are vital for shared security interests and underscore Lockheed Martin’s ongoing commitment to enhancing Spanish defense capabilities. The inclusion of Sener and Oesía Tecnobit in the PAC-3 MSE production cycle showcases the company’s continued investment in allied defense innovation. With over 3,125 personnel globally engaged in the PAC-3 program, Lockheed Martin’s expanding industrial ecosystem ensures that supply chain resilience and technological excellence remain central to its operations. The agreement will not only support job creation and industrial growth in Spain but also contribute to supply chain diversification across the U.S. and Europe.

Spain currently operates a fleet of 18 M901 Patriot PAC-2 launchers. With the formalization of a procurement agreement in 2024 between the Spanish and U.S. governments, Spain is now poised to integrate PAC-3 MSE interceptors into its Patriot battalions. This upgrade significantly enhances the Spanish Army’s air and missile defense capability, enabling a more effective counter to ballistic missile threats via the PAC-3 MSE’s hit-to-kill precision. Unlike traditional fragmentation-based systems, the PAC-3 MSE achieves neutralization through direct impact, delivering enhanced lethality and precision. This makes it a cornerstone of modern layered missile defense strategies.

Lockheed Martin’s engagement with Spanish industry spans more than four decades. Through the current agreement, the company deepens its commitment to fostering innovation, technical excellence, and sovereign defense capabilities in Spain. With collaborative projects dating back to 2023, Lockheed Martin España’s work with Sener and Oesía Tecnobit exemplifies a future-focused approach to allied defense readiness.

This agreement signifies more than just industrial cooperation—it is a strategic investment in shared security, technological independence, and mutual prosperity. As Spain and Lockheed Martin chart this new path forward, FEINDEF 2025 stands as a testament to the power of defense partnerships in shaping tomorrow's security landscape.
