Russia Western Military District receives Tor-M2U air-defence system
Tor-M2U (NATO reporting name: SA-15 Gauntlet) surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems have been fielded to the 1st Guards Armored Army of Russia’s Western Military District and will soon be put on alert in the Moscow Region, according to the district’s press office.

"Now, the crews assisted by the manufacturer’s personnel are learning the advanced materiel at the Army Air Defense Training Center in the town of Yeisk (Krasnodar Region). Their conversion course will be crowned by a live fire exercise at a missile range in the Astrakhan Region," the news release says. After the exercise, the SAM systems will come to the Moscow Region and go on alert duty there.

The Tor-M2U is an up-to-date multirole short-range SAM system featuring high mobility. It can operate with success in any situation, including electronic countermeasures-heavy environment. The Tor-M2U is effective against missiles in addition to the plethora of aircraft.
