The VAMTAC SK seems to be based on the VAMTAC SK95 which was tested by the Spanish army as an artillery tractor. This new light truck was also developed from the VAMTAC ST5, an armored version of the standard VAMTAC 4x4 light tactical vehicle.

The layout of all vehicles consists of the engine and cab at the front and the cargo area at the rear. The design of the VAMTAC SK is very similar to the Belgian JACAM which is based on a Unimog chassis. The VAMTAC SK is based on an open-top architecture with a crew cabin at the front equipped with roll-over protection integrated into the vehicle. The crew cab includes three mine blast seats for the driver, gunner, and commander. The front of the cabin is equipped with two folding windshields, with bullet-proof windows.

The rear part of the new VAMTAC SK is also equipped with integrated tubular protection that can be protected by a canvas and which is equipped with three benches, on located at the back of the crew cab and two in the center facing the outside of the vehicle. Read and front sides of the truck are equipped with drop tailgates allowing soldiers to quickly exit and enter the vehicle.

Each side of the crew cabin is fitted with one single door and reinforced bumpers, as well as a recovery winch, are mounted at the front of the truck.
