Lithuania has reaffirmed its strong support for Ukraine's defense efforts, with the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense announcing the delivery of specialized trailers for transporting armored vehicles and a new batch of ammunition. This shipment is part of Lithuania's continued commitment to assisting Ukraine in meeting its battlefield needs.
Lithuania’s military aid to Ukraine began in 2014 with small arms, ammunition, and training support following Russia’s annexation of Crimea. Over time, this assistance expanded into sustained capacity-building, helping Ukraine adopt NATO standards and improve interoperability. After Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, Lithuania significantly increased the quality and quantity of its aid—supplying advanced equipment such as armored vehicles, heavy ammunition, anti-drone systems, and modern initiation systems. This comprehensive, steadily growing support—now totaling over €1.5 billion—reflects Lithuania’s firm commitment to bolstering Ukraine’s defense capabilities, securing regional stability, and deterring further Russian aggression.
Over the years, Lithuania has gradually expanded the scope of its military aid to Ukraine. Lithuania’s contributions also encompass essential non-lethal support, such as high-capacity generators, camp beds, loaders, and equipment critical for cold weather—an increasingly important factor as temperatures drop on the front lines.
The RISE-1 long-range smart initiation system represents another advanced technological asset provided by Lithuania, illustrating the high quality of the transferred equipment aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defensive capacity. With this material, Ukrainian forces benefit from greater precision, reliability, and sustainability in their efforts to address persistent security challenges.
To date, Lithuania’s cumulative support to Ukraine has exceeded 1.5 billion euros, including more than 721 million euros specifically allocated to military assistance. These investments reflect Lithuania’s role as a key partner for Ukraine, demonstrating not only a commitment to that country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity but also a broader resolve to maintain stability and security in the region.
As the situation in Eastern Europe remains volatile, Lithuania’s continued aid deliveries serve as a tangible expression of solidarity. By supplying Ukrainian forces with modern equipment, essential ammunition, and vital support gear, Lithuania reinforces the international effort to ensure that Ukraine has the necessary capabilities to protect its people and safeguard its borders.
