Thailand selects Chaiseri to develop prototype of AAV Amphibious Assault Vehicle type AAVP1A1


According to information published by DTI (Defence Technology Institute) on March 8, 2022, Thailand has selected the local company Chaiseri to develop a prototype of AAV (Amphibious Assault Vehicle) type AAVP1A1.

The AAV (Amphibious Assault Vehicle) will be called AAVP1A1 and is a crewed version of the AAV7A1 amphibious vehicle in service with the amphibious vehicle battalion. According to the military balance 2021, the Marine Corps of the Taiwanese armed forces has a total of 33 LVTP7 including AAVP-7A1, AAVC-7A1, AAVR-7A1.

The Thai company Chaiseri had already modernized three AAV7A1 tracked amphibious armored vehicles to the standard AAV7A1 RAM/RS ( (Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability/Rebuild to Standard) which is the latest version of the assault amphibious vehicle operating with the U.S. Marine Corps.

The AAV7A1 also called LVTP7 is a tracked amphibious armored vehicle used personnel carrier and designed to carry landing operations. It can be launched from assault ships during amphibious operations. It also supports mechanized operations ashore.

The AAV7A1 is available in three variants including the AAVC7A1 Command Vehicle, AAVP7A1 Personnel Vehicle, and AAVR7A1 Recovery Vehicle.
