During a recent Army test, a pair of Raytheon Company Stinger anti-air missiles equipped with new proximity fuzes intercepted two small unmanned airborne systems—an MQM-170C Outlaw and an unidentified smaller system—for the first time. Proximity fuzes allow missiles to destroy targets by making contact or by detonating in close range.

A General Dynamics Mission Systems engineering team successfully streamed video 62 miles between two tactical antennas on April 20 during the Marine Corps-sponsored Ship-to-Shore Maneuver, Exploration and Experimentation (S2ME2) Task Force Demonstration at Camp Pendleton. The engineering team participated in the event through a cooperative research and development agreement with the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific.

Oshkosh Defense announced today that it has submitted a proposal in response to the U.S. Government’s Request for Proposal (RFP) for Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) A2 production effort. Oshkosh’s FMTV A2 proposal addresses the U.S. Army’s need for increased payload and improved survivability, ride quality, and mobility.

BAE Systems has contracted Czech manufacturer Ray Service to deliver key components for the Swedish vehicle-mounted mortar system known as Mjölner. BAE Systems was awarded a contract by the Swedish Defence Material Administration in December 2016 for the delivery of 40 of the mortar systems and has now enlisted Ray Service to develop and produce cabling assemblies.
