Textron Systems to refit US Navy's Unmanned Influence Sweep System.

According to information published by the US DoD on April 12, 2023, Textron Systems, Hunt Valley, Maryland, is awarded an $18,675,412 fixed-price incentive (firm target) modification to previously awarded contract N00024-14-C-6322 for retrofit of the Unmanned Influence Sweep System (UISS) Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV).

Work will be performed in Hunt Valley, Maryland (70%); and San Diego, California (30%), and is expected to be completed by June 2024. Fiscal 2023 other procurement (Navy) funds in the amount of $18,675,412 will be obligated at time of award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.

About the UISS

The Unmanned Influence Sweep System (UISS) is an unmanned, self-propelled, semi-autonomous surface vehicle designed by the U.S. Navy to provide an unmanned, organic, off-board minesweeping capability in littoral regions of the ocean.

The system is equipped with the capability to sweep acoustically and/or magnetically actuated naval mines, and is designed to be deployed, operated, and maintained from a Littoral Combat Ship, adequately equipped vessel of opportunity, or from a shore site.

The UISS system components include an Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV), Unmanned Surface Sweep System (US3), Mine Detonation Detection system, Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4) suite, and an obstacle avoidance sensor package.
