Held at the Metropolitan Expo exhibition center in Athens, Greece, DEFEA 2025 brings together defense industry leaders, government officials, and military delegations from across the globe. This year's edition sees a significant increase in international participation, reflecting Greece's growing role as a hub for defense collaboration in Southeast Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean. With a strong presence of NATO member states and regional allies, the exhibition underscores the strategic importance of Greece in maintaining security and defense interoperability in an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape.

In our Day 1 video, viewers are taken on a virtual walkthrough of the exhibition, offering an immersive look into the vast array of advanced military equipment, defense systems, and technological innovations on display. The video highlights the presence of global defense leaders alongside strong participation from the local Greek defense industry, illustrating Greece’s evolving role as a key player in regional and NATO-aligned defense capabilities.

A standout from the Greek pavilion is EODH’s unveiling of the modernized Leonidas Armored Personnel Carrier (APC). Originally developed and fielded by the Hellenic Army, the latest iteration of the Leonidas features a state-of-the-art remotely operated weapon station (ROWS), enhancing both firepower and crew survivability. This upgrade breathes new life into a legacy platform, reaffirming Greece’s commitment to modernizing its armored vehicle fleet with domestic innovation.

Another centerpiece of the Day 1 coverage is the debut of the Philoctetes 8x8 Infantry Fighting Vehicle, a result of strategic cooperation between French defense giant KNDS and a Greek industrial partner. Based on the combat-proven VBCI chassis, the Philoctetes is adapted for the Hellenic Army's operational needs, showcasing high mobility, modular protection, and digital integration — a clear symbol of European defense industrial cooperation.

Our video report also captures the strong international presence at DEFEA 2025, with exhibitors from Europe, North America, and Asia. A few key highlights include the Rheinmetall KF41 Lynx, the latest generation of tracked Infantry Fighting Vehicles from Germany, emphasizing modularity and digital battlefield integration. There is also a significant presence from Israeli defense companies, presenting advanced systems in UAVs, missile defense, and cybersecurity, reflecting deepening ties with Greece and a strategic footprint in the region. One notable innovation is the SEMA training target, developed by a French manufacturer. This recoverable acoustic training device can be deployed from RHIBs or ships, simulating sonar signatures for a range of anti-submarine warfare platforms — from frigates and submarines to helicopters and maritime patrol aircraft.

This first video report sets the tone for a dynamic three-day event, with exclusive coverage continuing daily from Army Recognition’s editorial team on the ground in Athens. As DEFEA 2025 progresses, viewers can expect more video insights, interviews, and product unveilings from the global defense sector.
