Founded on October 8, 1811, FAMAE has undergone several name changes throughout its history, reaching its current designation as Fábricas y Maestranzas del Ejército de Chile (FAMAE) in 1953. FAMAE's products, which include the CT-30 carbine, SAF submachine gun, FD-200 sniper rifle, and others, are utilized by the Chilean armed forces and police force. The company also exports to over 20 countries, a practice that began in the 1960s.

FAMAE's focus on research and development has led to the creation of various projects, including the SIG SG 510-4 rifle, SIG SG 542 rifle, FAMAE SAF submachine gun (also known as Famas), and Rayo MLRS. This focus extends to the modernization of weapon systems and maintenance of military equipment for the Chilean Army.

The F1811 model, a compact pistol with a launched needle system, is set for release in March 2024. It is a 9x19 mm caliber weapon with a total length of 186 mm, a barrel length of 92 mm, a height of 133 mm, a width of 28 mm, an unloaded weight of approximately 780 g, and a magazine capacity of 16+1 cartridges.

The Tifon family, which includes the Tifon-F, Tifon-FD, and Tifon FD-1 models, was presented at the Fidae 2022 exhibition. These models are all 9x19 mm caliber pistols, each with a total length of 186 mm, a height of 140 mm, and a width of 30 mm. They vary in weight and magazine capacity. The Tifon-F has an approximate weight of 800 g and can be equipped with a magazine holding either 13 or 16 cartridges. On the other hand, the Tifon-FD and Tifon-FD1 models are lighter, each weighing about 748 g, and have a magazine capacity of 13 cartridges.

The Atenas-F model, similar to the nine previous models from FAMAE, features six polygonal-type grooves. It is a 9x19 mm caliber pistol with a total length of 208 mm, a height of 133 mm, a width of 28 mm, an unloaded weight of approximately 880 g, a magazine capacity of 16+1 cartridges, and a barrel length of 112 mm.
