At SIDEF 2017, the International Defense Exhibition in Peru, Russian arms exporter Rosoboronexport display weapons and military equipment engaged by the Russian air force in counter-terrorist operation in Syria. Peru has launched a tender for the purchase of 8x8 armoured vehicles for its armed forces.

Many military delegations of armed forces from Latin America have showed great interest about armaments and military technologies showed at SITDEF 2017 on the booth of Rosoboronexport, such as the T-90S main battle tank, the BTR-80A and BTR-82A armored personnel carriers.
Some other countries in the region as Brazil will be interested to purchase Russian-made air defense systems as the Tor M2KM and Buk-M2E, Pantsir-S1 short-range air defense system and portable air defense missile Igla-S. According to undisclosed Peruvian military sources, Peru could acquire 50 8x8 combat vehicle for its armed forces. Russia could offers its 8x8 armoured personnel carrier BTR-82 to response to this new request of the Peruvian armed forces. The BTR-82 is an upgrade version of the BTR-80 which is in service with many armed forces all over the world. The new BTR-82 offers more protection and mobility capabilities than its predecessor. The firepower of the BTR-82A is increase by the use of a new unified fighting module with electric drive armed with one 2A72 30mm cannon coupled with a 7.62 mm machine gun. The turret is fully stabilized on the two axes and fitted with new sights. The BTR-82 can fire on the move in day and night operations. |
