IndoDefence 2025: Indonesia Enhances Tactical Operations with New P2 Tiger 4x4 Armored Vehicle Built with France.

At Indo Defence 2025, held in Jakarta, the Indonesian company PT Sentra Surya Ekajaya (PT SSE) publicly exhibited for the first time its new armored personnel carrier, the P2 Tiger 4x4, developed in collaboration with the French firm Texelis. Designed to meet the operational requirements of the Indonesian Armed Forces, this vehicle is the result of an industrial cooperation effort between the two countries, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and Indonesia.

The P2 Tiger is an 18-ton 4x4 armored vehicle designed and assembled in Indonesia, built on the Celeris mobility platform engineered by Texelis. This mechanical base, also used in the French Army's Serval, includes a 375-horsepower Cummins engine, an Allison six-speed automatic transmission, Texelis axles, independent suspension, and a Teleflow central tire inflation system. Its modular configuration enables adaptability across mission profiles while ensuring high mobility in demanding terrain conditions.

At PT SSE’s booth at Indo Defence, the P2 Tiger was exhibited in its APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) variant, featuring a remotely operated 20 mm turret and a Metravib Pilar V gunshot detection system. The vehicle accommodates a squad of 8 dismounted personnel and 2 crew members. Internally, the seating is arranged in a 2+2+6 layout, with central side doors and individual firing positions. The armor meets STANAG 4569 standards, ranging from Level 2 to Level 4, depending on configuration, providing protection against ballistic threats and explosive devices.

PT SSE is responsible for the vehicle’s structural design, armor welding, system integration, and final assembly, carried out at its facilities in Tangerang. The collaboration with Texelis involves a technology transfer model focused on mobility systems, with direct support from French engineers during key development phases, including system design, industrialization, and dynamic testing. Initiated in 2023, this process enabled the prototype to be completed in under one year, a timeline considered notable for this vehicle category.

The P2 Tiger is compatible with modern deployment requirements. Two vehicles can be transported in a single A400M aircraft without reconfiguration, aligning with Indonesia’s planned integration of this platform into its airlift fleet.

Beyond the supply of mechanical kits, Texelis provides technical support, software integration, maintenance planning, and technical training, contributing to the development of PT SSE’s production capabilities. The P2 Tiger now stands as the most technically advanced vehicle in the PT SSE product line, complementing lighter platforms such as the P6 ATAV and the P2 KM.

The P2 Tiger’s presence at Indo Defence 2025 highlights Indonesia’s approach of leveraging a domestic defense industrial base while working with international technology partners. The program has received backing from the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, France’s Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA), the GICAT, and the Franco-Indonesian association INAFRA, aligning with national objectives for capability development and industrial consolidation.

The P2 Tiger 4x4 marks a strategic step in Indonesia’s defense industrial development. With a locally managed production process and a mobility solution sourced from a European partner, it addresses both national requirements and potential regional market demand. The PT SSE–Texelis collaboration illustrates a balanced cooperation framework, combining domestic expertise with foreign technology, in support of sovereign production goals and industrial complementarity.
