Nexter and MSPV building new partnership with ARX20 integration on light armoured vehicles
Well-known French defense contractor Nexter Systems recently built a new partnership with the UAE-based armored platforms manufacturer Minerva Special Purpose Vehicles (MSPV), the two companies announced at IDEF 2017. The partnership’s first step actually includes integration of its ARX20 remote controlled turret on MSPV’s Panthera F9 wheeled armored vehicle.

Nexter System’s ARX20 land remote controlled weapon station offers superior firepower, range and terminal effectiveness while ensuring full protection of the crew. Nexter’s 20 mm cannon provides stand-offs against heavily gunned asymmetric threats in a maximum range of 1,200 m.

The ARX20 RCT can optionally incorporate 7,62 mm machine gun with 300 rounds, Lacroix’s GALIX smoke discharger, fire detection and localisation system and firing waste disposal. The ARX20 uses the 20M621 cannon to fire 20x102 NATO ammunition with an average firing rate of 750 rounds/min.

With a total weight of less than 300 kg, the ARX20 is perfectly adapted to light armored vehicles such as MSPV’s Panthera F9. The Panthera F9 armored personnel carrier accommodates up to 9 soldiers in the rear compartment.

The Panthera F9 is powered by a 6.7L Power Stroke V8 turbo-diesel coupled to a TorqShift 6-speed automatic transmission. Protection level of the vehicle reaches up to B7/STANAG 4569-2 kinetic threat and STANAG 4569-1. A well-established armored vehicles manufacturer, MSPV already provided its platforms to a wide range of customers from i.e. Egypt and UAE. The company recently opened a new production plant in Ankara, Turkey.

After IDEF 2017, the next step will be to introduce the concept to UAE armed forces during a live demonstration.

According to MSPV, this partnership will be extended to other armored platforms and will include Nexter’s ARX25 25 mm RCT and P20 20 mm one-man turret. Moreover, MSPV plans to build other partnerships to include C4ISR systems suite in its portfolio.
