New Iranian-made 6x6 UGV Unmanned Ground Vehicle unveiled during National Army Day



On April 18, 2019, Iran has unveiled new technology of UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle) during the National Army Day military parade. This new UGV seems to be very similar to the Phantom 1 developed by the Ukrainian defense industry.

The Iranian 6x6 UGV is able to perform a variety of tasks in complex urban environments. It can be used to conduct different type of missions’ mission including combat, reconnaissance, ammunition transportation to forward operating bases, and evacuation of wounded soldiers from the battlefield. During the parade, the new Iranian-made UGV was armed with two MANPADS (Man-portable air-defense systems) launchers mounted on the top of the vehicle.

There is no information about the technical features of the new UGV, but the vehicle is based on a 6×6 all-wheel drive chassis and can be remotely operated by a single soldier's thanks to the use of a command and control station, which comprises a laptop with user control panel.

As for all modern UGV, the Iranian seems to be fitted with a sighting system that includes stabilized day/night sight. The sighting system allows the weapons to perform precise firings against targets during the day and at night.

Optical cameras are mounted all-around the vehicle to provide a 360° view for the operators.
