Based on the Canadian Army's LAV 6.0, the LAV Demonstrator represents best in-class levels of protection with blast-deflecting Double-V Hull technology and energy-absorbing seating for crew and troops. A sixth generation suspension and driveline and a more powerful engine provide superior mobility and significantly increased payload.

The LAV Demonstrator further enhances the combat-proven LAV III. With an inherent Double-V" hull and energy attenuated seats, the LAV Demonstrator provides world-class protection. The vehicle also features an upgraded driveline, suspension, larger tires, and a more powerful engine to deliver significantly increased payload and superior mobility performance.

The LAV Demonstrator is the culmination of decades of light armoured vehicle technology evolution by General Dynamics Land Systems, the world's leading provider of wheeled combat vehicles. It conveys all the self-deployment benefits and sustainment savings normally possessed by highway capable wheeled platforms, with exceptional off-road mobility.

Highly accurate and lethal firepower is provided by the proven and ergonomically efficient 30mm Kongsberg PROTECTOR RWS which is equipped with the latest in optical and thermal sights, all linked to a digital electronic architecture. The LAV Demonstrator: the optimum balance of size, mobility, lethality and protection.

The Konsberg Protector RWS (Remote Weapon Station) on the LAV Demonstrator was armed with an ATK Mk44 30mm automatic cannon and a co-axial 7.62mm machine gun located to the top and left side of the main gun.

The PROTECTOR Medium Caliber Remote Weapon Station (MC RWS) is a turret solution designed for 25-50mm cannons mountable on wheeled or tracked armored vehicles.

The turret is remotely operated under armor to increase the protection for the gunner. It is equipped with a dual ammunition feed with 75 rounds each and can carry a total of 150 rounds ready to fire.

The medium caliber automatic cannon and coaxial machine gun combined with optional non-lethal effects provides the vehicle crew the necessary tools to engage in a wide spectrum of situations and to conduct Escalation of Force. The availability of having two ammunition types simultaneously gives the flexibility to configure the system to engage both soft and hard targets beyond 3,000 meters.

A Commander’s sight solution, based on the PROTECTOR RWS family, gives the commander an independent surveillance and lethal/non-lethal engagement capability and enables a two way hunter/killer capability.
