Syrian
rebels have been pushed out of a strategic district in the commercial
capital of Aleppo, but sporadic fighting has continued in other parts
of the city. Rebels in the Aleppo district of Salaheddin, a southern gateway
to the city, said that they were forced to retreat under heavy fire. |

Rebels said clashes
continued in the district and that, while the government had at least
80 tanks stationed in various parts of Aleppo, the military appeared
reluctant to engage in close combat, preferring to use helicopters and
fighter jets. |
