Lithuania recently delivered trucks and critical spare parts for M113 armored personnel carriers to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This shipment, part of Lithuania’s ongoing military support, highlights the country’s steadfast dedication to enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities amidst persistent regional challenges.

According to official statements, Lithuania’s priority for the remainder of the year will be to provide critical materials such as air defense systems, ammunition, drones, and drone jamming equipment. At the same time, Vilnius is taking steps to develop its national defense industry and to support similar efforts in Ukraine by financing the production of armaments on Ukrainian territory.

Lithuania also remains a key player in several multinational defense initiatives. In partnership with Iceland, it leads the Capability Coalition for Demining and actively participates in other coalitions. In addition to providing equipment, Lithuania’s assistance includes medical rehabilitation for injured Ukrainian personnel and continuing military training programs.

As early as 2022, Lithuania announced it would deliver M113 troop transport vehicles—American-made armored vehicles known for their versatility and robustness—to Ukraine. These vehicles enable the Ukrainian Armed Forces to effectively move soldiers through challenging terrain and represent a significant reinforcement of their defensive capabilities. In addition to supplying the vehicles themselves, Lithuania has also provided spare parts and technical assistance necessary to maintain and modernize these armored vehicles, ensuring their operational availability in the long term.

Beyond M113 APCs, Lithuania has committed itself extensively to supporting Ukraine. It has provided various types of equipment, including trucks, drones, air defense and jamming equipment, as well as ammunition. Furthermore, it contributes to demining efforts in cooperation with other countries, trains Ukrainian military personnel, and participates in medical rehabilitation for wounded soldiers. Since the beginning of the conflict, Lithuania’s military aid to Ukraine is estimated at several hundred million euros, while the total amount of support—covering humanitarian, financial, and military assistance—has exceeded 1.5 billion euros, illustrating Lithuania’s determination to support Ukraine in the face of ongoing security challenges.
