The large unit received the advanced BMD-4M vehicles less than a month ago, the press office added.

"Two battalions of the Ryazan-based parachute regiment [of the 106th Airborne Division] are improving their skills in operating the advanced military hardware and negotiating obstacles and holding live-firing drills," the press office said.

"During seven days, the servicemen will practice cohesion within crews and then will take part in live-firing exercises within platoons and companies," the press office added.

"All the regiment’s battalion task forces have been fully armed with advanced military hardware, in particular, the BMD-4M airborne fighting vehicle and the BTR-MDM Rakushka armored personnel carrier," the press office said.

The advanced vehicles are 2.5 times more superior to their Russian- and foreign-made analogs.

Another feature is that the BMD-4M airborne fighting vehicle’s crew members sitting in special Kazbek seats can be airdropped inside the vehicle both on maneuvers and in battle. This considerably reduces the time they need to organize for battle.

The advanced BMD-4 airborne fighting vehicle is three times more superior to the BMD-2 vehicle in terms of firepower and running capabilities.

Its armor protection against small-arms fire and anti-tank mines has been improved compared to that of the BMD-2 vehicle.
