MKE TOLGA 20 mm Dual Weapon Revolver System Ready to Defend Strategic Civilian Ships Against Drone Threats.

Turkish defense manufacturer MKE has unveiled its TOLGA dual 20 mm naval defense system at EURONAVAL 2026 in Paris, introducing a high-firepower solution to protect strategic civilian and commercial ships against aerial drones and explosive unmanned surface vessels. Successfully tested aboard the Turkish Navy’s TCG BEYKOZ, the system delivers a combined firing rate of 3,200 rounds per minute, providing close-range protection for critical maritime assets, including offshore energy platforms, drilling ships, and cable-laying vessels.

Turkish defense manufacturer MKE is expanding the role of advanced naval protection technology to safeguard strategically important civilian vessels against emerging aerial and surface threats. At EURONAVAL 2026, held in Paris from 3 to 6 November, the company presented its TOLGA 20 mm Dual Weapon Revolver System following successful naval firing trials. According to MKE's official press release, the system is ready to provide a new defensive capability for critical commercial and civilian maritime platforms.

MKE Demonstrates TOLGA's Naval Defense Capabilities During Successful Firing Trials

The international presentation of the TOLGA 20 mm Dual Weapon Revolver System followed a significant operational demonstration during Türkiye's National Unmanned Maritime Systems Exercise (TURNAs-2026). Installed aboard the Turkish Navy vessel TCG BEYKOZ, the MKE-developed system successfully destroyed aerial and surface targets during live-fire engagements, demonstrating its ability to respond to threats approaching from different directions. This achievement highlights MKE's technological expertise in adapting advanced weapon systems to maritime environments, where vessel movement and the rapid emergence of unmanned threats demand responsive and reliable defensive capabilities. The successful trials also provided a strong technical foundation for the system's subsequent international exhibition debut.

The development represents more than the introduction of another naval weapon system. It demonstrates MKE's ambition to address one of the increasingly important challenges facing modern maritime security: protecting vessels against relatively small, fast-emerging unmanned threats. As Army Recognition Group reported on 27 October 2026, the successful demonstration of the dual 20 mm configuration reflects Türkiye's growing emphasis on layered naval counter-drone protection. Within such a defensive architecture, TOLGA could provide a valuable close-range engagement capability, complementing other shipborne protection systems while reinforcing MKE's contribution to Türkiye's expanding national defense technology portfolio.

TOLGA Delivers 3,200 Rounds per Minute for High-Intensity Maritime Protection

At the heart of MKE's new naval defense capability is an exceptional combined firing rate of 3,200 rounds per minute, which the manufacturer states is three times higher than that of comparable systems worldwide. Equipped with specially developed anti-drone fragmentation ammunition, the TOLGA 20 mm Dual Weapon Revolver System is designed to engage airborne and surface kamikaze threats at an effective range of 1,000 metres. Its advanced stabilization technology helps keep the weapons aligned with their targets while the host vessel is underway, an essential advantage when operating in a dynamic maritime environment. An elevation range from −30° to +70° further increases engagement flexibility against threats approaching at different heights and altitudes. By combining concentrated firepower, specialized ammunition and stabilized targeting, MKE has developed a system consistent with its "Effective, Simple and Affordable" philosophy, seeking to deliver practical defensive performance against evolving security threats.

MKE Extends Advanced Naval Protection to Strategic Civilian and Commercial Ships

One of the most significant aspects of TOLGA's development is MKE's decision to extend its potential applications beyond military vessels to strategically important civilian maritime infrastructure. According to the company's announcement, the system can be integrated onto deepwater drilling ships, seismic survey vessels, cable-laying ships and floating power plants, as well as other commercial and civilian platforms requiring protection against aerial and surface attacks. These vessels perform essential functions in energy exploration, electricity generation and communications infrastructure, making their continued operation strategically important. By offering a defensive system designed to counter emerging unmanned threats, MKE is addressing a security requirement that extends well beyond conventional naval operations. This approach illustrates the company's ability to translate military defense technologies into solutions for protecting civilian maritime activities, potentially strengthening the resilience of critical infrastructure operating in exposed maritime environments.

The successful naval firing trials aboard TCG BEYKOZ and the international debut at EURONAVAL 2026 represent an important technological milestone for MKE and Türkiye's defense industry. With its high firing rate, specialized anti-drone ammunition and stabilized naval configuration, TOLGA demonstrates the Turkish manufacturer's commitment to developing effective solutions for increasingly complex maritime threats. Its proposed application to strategically important civilian vessels adds a particularly valuable dimension to the system, expanding its relevance from naval self-defense to the protection of essential maritime operations. Through this achievement, MKE reinforces its position as an innovative Turkish defense manufacturer capable of responding to emerging security requirements with domestically developed technologies and a clear vision for the future of maritime protection.
