According pictures released on the facebook account "EgyptMilitary", two new wheeled artillery systems entered service in the Egyptian army. Both are based on Russian-made Ural-4320 6x6 truck chassis with a towed artillery system mounted at the rear of the truck.

The first new artillery systems uses a Russian-made Ural-4320-1911-30 6x6 truck chassis with is fitted with a an armoured cabin at the front. The artillery system is mounted at the rear of the truck chassis.

The artillery system is armed with a Russian-made M-46 130mm towed gun which is mounted at the rear of the truck chassis. Some military experts on Internet said that could be also a Chinese Type 59-1 which is a copy of the Russian M-46.

The 130 mm M-46 M1954 is a manually loaded 130 mm artillery towed gun, designed manufactured in Russia since the 1950s. The M-46 was first seen in public in May 1954 and originally was known in the West as the M1954.

Ammunition originally included HE fragmentation, Armour Piercing solid shot, smoke, illuminating and chemical. HE shells weigh some 33 kg. Maximum rate of fire is 5 -6 rounds/minute, and about 70 rounds/hour with a maximum range of 27.1 km.

The second new artillery system uses the same Russian-made Ural-4320-1911-30 6x6 truck chassis but fitted with a standard cabin. The artillery system is also mounted at the rear of the chassis.

The D-30 uses the 2A18 gun which is also used by the Russian 2S1 tracked self-propelled howitzer. The maximum rate of fire of the D-30 is 6-8 rounds per minute, and about 75 rounds per hour. The D-30 fires FRAG-HE and HEAT-FS variable-charge, case-type, separate-loading ammunition. It has a range from 4 to 15.3 km.
